Greg Pemberton, Apprenticeship Training Program Director at Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC), recently earned his certified loss control professional (CLCP) designation. The program, designed to help ensure a safer work environment for utility workers and the public, is offered by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in partnership with the National Utility Training and Safety Education Association.

“Greg is committed to helping Indiana’s electric cooperatives create the safest work environment possible,” said John Cassady, CEO of Indiana Electric Cooperatives. “The safety of our employees and consumers is our top priority. We are proud of Greg’s dedication to that standard and his achievement of this CLCP designation.”

Program participants complete four, week-long sessions designed to challenge and educate them in new, innovative safety techniques. The sessions include a rigorous series of seminars and tests, a 30-hour OSHA course and a detailed final project. Graduates maintain their certificates by participating in annual continuing education courses.

“Greg’s focus on safety and professional growth demonstrates his strong commitment to upholding the highest safety standards,” said Jon Elkins, IEC’s vice president of safety, training and compliance. “His CLCP designation not only highlights his personal achievement but also strengthens our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety of the co-op workforce and the communities we serve.”

Before joining IEC in 2019, Pemberton was a relay technician at South Central Indiana REMC. He is a journeyman lineman with experience in linework, metering, substations, SCADA, voltage regulator maintenance, AMI and fiber. He is a graduate of the HEATS program and received an Associate of Applied Science degree in technology: electrical lineman from Ivy Tech Community College.
