The Indiana Electric Cooperatives Managers’ Association Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship given to ten outstanding students each year. The purpose of this scholarship is to help further the education of the sons and daughters of Indiana electric co-op directors and employees, and to give them the chance to be more aware about energy industry careers.
Applications open Jan. 31, 2025.
Instructions
This is a two-part application. The student must fill out the application and provide the name and email address of a school official. After the first part is submitted, an email will be sent to the applicant as well as the school official.
Once the school official has filled out the second part of the application, a notification email will be sent to the student as well as the school official. It is the applicant’s responsibility to follow up and make sure that the second half of the application is completed.
Rules and Regulations
To be eligible for this scholarship, the following provisions will govern the acceptance of applicants from the local cooperatives:
- Applicants must be either graduating high school seniors who have all basic credits for college or proper* vocational or technical school entrance, or be a freshman, sophomore or junior in college or proper vocational or technical school.
- Applicants must be a son, daughter or legal ward of an Indiana electric cooperative employee or director.
- Applicants must have current academic career average of “B” or better and be enrolled in an accredited college or proper vocational/technical school of the student’s choice. Applicant enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, working toward a degree, are also eligible applicants.
- Applications for scholarship competition must be completed electronically using the forms found on the Indiana Electric Cooperatives website and all materials must be submitted no later than close of business on Friday, March 8, 2025. Application information must be confined to the official nomination form with no attachments other than grade transcripts.
- Students are allowed to receive only one Managers’ Association scholarship during their academic career.
*Proper vocational or technical school means one beyond high school where credits can be transferred to a state-accredited four-year college.
Judging
A committee of three judges will be chosen by the Managers’ Association to select the scholarship recipients. The judging will be based high school (or college) cumulative grade point average and personal achievements and activities.
