John Cassady Joins IEC

I am grateful for the privilege to lead IEC on behalf of our 38 member cooperatives. I am in week two as CEO, although I am not new to the electric cooperative industry. My background includes over 20 years in government relations and advocacy on behalf of electric cooperatives on both state and federal policy, including having served as vice president of legislative affairs for NRECA. Working with you, I am ready to apply my background and experience to the many challenges and opportunities facing Indiana’s electric cooperatives.

I am excited to travel to meet our members and have already attended two cooperative annual meetings: NineStar Connect and Southeastern Indiana REMC. I enjoyed hearing inspiring examples of our member cooperatives delivering on their mission to improve the quality of life in their communities. I look forward to even more opportunities to visit and learn from our members throughout the state.

As a membership organization, IEC exists to serve and to bring value to each of the 38 electric cooperatives and the communities they serve.  Our government relations team, for example, is currently hard at work on your behalf shaping legislation amid a busy session of the Indiana General Assembly.

The training that IEC provides helps to ensure your consumers are being served by a well-trained workforce and board of directors. Once the improvements are complete at our new office, we will have additional opportunities to host events and training for your cooperative staff and directors.

These and other services are all designed for the purpose of benefiting the communities our member cooperatives serve. Our members always come first and, as the landscape evolves, we will continue to adapt to meet your needs into the future. I am excited about the success we will have together and confident in the lasting impact we will make on behalf of our entire membership.
