Award recognizes outstanding contributions to electric cooperative member services
Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) named Emily Schilling the recipient of the 2022 Tom Taylor Award. Schilling, editor at IEC, was presented the award during the Marketing, Member Services and Communicators professional section fall meeting Oct. 7.
“Emily represents IEC and Indiana Connection magazine with strong leadership, creativity and professionalism,” said Mandy Barth, vice president of communication at IEC. “While much of her work is done behind the scenes, her ability to produce award-winning content that resonates with members shines alongside her efforts to help nearly every co-op in the state communicate in creative ways.”
One nominator commented, “She leads with thoughtfulness and care, for the organization and for its members. She is an advocate, a mentor, a cheerleader, a coach. She also continually jumps in wherever needed.”
The award is presented annually to an Indiana electric cooperative member services employee who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, attitude and commitment to electric cooperative principles. The award is named for the award’s first recipient and longtime Boone REMC member services representative, C. Tom Taylor, who lived by the philosophy of “non sibi, sed aliis” – not for self, but for others.
