Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) named Michael Charbonneau to its government relations team. He will serve as the association’s director of external government relations.
Charbonneau will be responsible for representing IEC, its member cooperatives and the generation and transmission cooperatives with state and federal government. He will lobby and assist with the development and implementation of legislative and regulatory strategies. He will also develop and expand key relationships, including with state agencies, state government and other stakeholders to advocate on behalf of IEC’s member cooperatives and member-consumers.
“Michael brings a strong work ethic and diverse expertise of the electric utility industry. His strong relationships with members of the lobbying community and the legislature make him a natural fit,” said Brian Christenberry, vice president of government relations.
Charbonneau was previously director of governmental relations for NIPSCO. He has also worked as a campaign manager for state and federal candidates and is the owner of a music production company.
Charbonneau graduated from Wabash College with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.
