Tom Havens, Legislative Counsel and Advocacy Manager

Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) named Thomas R. Havens to its government relations staff. Havens will serve as the association’s legislative counsel and advocacy manager.

Havens will represent IEC and its members in state government through lobbying and the establishment of legislative and regulatory strategies. He will also lead the association’s grassroots initiatives.

“Tom’s experience with another member-based trade association provides him with a perspective that will be valuable as he works on behalf of our 38 member cooperatives,” said Tom VanParis, CEO of IEC. “He has a solid and respected reputation amongst state policymakers and lobbyists, as well as an established success record at the statehouse.”

Before joining IEC, Havens was governmental affairs director for the Indiana Builders Association.

Havens graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs and Indiana University-Purdue University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
