Indiana Electric Cooperatives recognized Rep. Eric Koch (R, Dist. 65) for his leadership and support for electric cooperative legislative and policy priorities.
The “Champion of Indiana’s Electric Cooperatives” award was presented Monday, Dec. 7, at the Indiana Electric Cooperatives annual meeting.
“Rep. Koch has proven time and again he shares our core beliefs and is willing to fight for electric cooperatives at the statehouse,” said Tom VanParis, CEO of Indiana Electric Cooperatives.
Koch supported electric cooperatives’ service territory preservation interests through Senate Bill 309 during the 2015 legislative session.
“Electric cooperatives play an important role in rural districts like mine, which is served by five Indiana electric cooperatives,” said Koch. “Their unique structure – where the customers are the owners – ensures responsible governance. I enjoy working with the cooperatives on policies to keep rates low and the grid strong.”
Koch represents House District 65, and serves as Assistant Majority Caucus Chair and is chairman of the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee. Koch’s district is served by Daviess-Martin County REMC, Jackson County REMC, Johnson County REMC, Orange County REMC and Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC.
